Points for calling the game nobody else did. A favourite pays almost nothing and a road dog pays what the market says it should — so the board rewards the read rather than the safe answer.
Back to the boardThe scoring is a bonus rule over the ordinary winner pick: the points a correct answer is worth are derived from the spread the pick was taken at, which is already stored on every pick as `line_at_selection`.
The payout curve, and the variant of the grading pass that reads it instead of the flat score in `competitions.rules.scoring`.
Real spreads are imported for every priced game — `npm run import:lines` — which is the input the whole game runs on.
