Gridiron Core

Mini game

Closest Score

Not who wins — what the scoreboard says. Call the final on a game and the entry nearest the real number takes it; land it exactly and nobody can beat you.

How a board asks for one

Set a game to Final in the slate editor. A score question needs nothing priced — two teams and a kickoff are enough — so any game on any week can carry one, alongside the winners and spreads.

Closest wins, ties share

An entry is ranked on both misses added: the home score and the away score. Two people equally close both win, because breaking that on who typed faster would make it a reflex game.

Dead on cannot lose

An exact call has an error of zero, so it is always the closest — not a special case in the code. It pays the board's bonus on top, and it takes the Bullseye Score off the special hardware sheet.

Twenty-one pieces of hardware

Closest Call, One Point Off, Margin Match, Total Lock, Shootout Call, Defensive Read, the Scorekeeper's Crown for three exact scores — the whole §7 family grades off these entries now.
